Home dialysis gives you so much more, more control, more independence, more time, more freedom, and more of your normal life back.
Home dialysis offers both medical and lifestyle benefits including the ability to continue to work, travel, socialise and just to be at home with your family1,2,3,4,5. It also avoids the need to travel to and from a hospital or satellite Haemodialysis (HD) unit to have your dialysis1.
Given the choice between home and hospital dialysis, most patients say they would rather be treated at home6,7,8,9. The government, doctors, nurses and patient associations say they want to see more people treated at home too1,10.
Whilst home dialysis is not for everyone, doctors say it could be suitable for 8 out of 10 patients11. Yet just 2 in 10 patients presently enjoy the flexibility of managing their own treatment at home12.
This website aims to provide information that you, your doctors and nurses, family and carers can use when making a decision about which dialysis treatment is right for you.. We hope that you find it useful and we would love to hear your suggestions about how we can make it even better, or learn about your personal dialysis experiences.
